Shepherd's Fold Day Care

Shepherd’s Fold began in October 1990 as a ministry of Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church to provide quality, affordable child care in a safe, nurturing Christian environment for parents who work outside the home or go to school. Unlike the public school system, there are no restrictions on prayer, Bible stories, and sharing the Gospel message. Shepherd’s Fold currently uses the Faith Alive curriculum published by Concordia, as well as many other age-appropriate learning activities. The lesson plans are structured around faith-based, learning through play.

Since its beginning, Shepherd’s Fold has served hundreds of children. This is the first place for many children to hear the Gospel message. Shepherd’s Fold currently offers care for infants  through age 5. We work with the Department of Economic Security (DES)  to help families who need subsidized child care. We also serve breakfast, lunch and snacks as a way to ensure all children in our care are receiving nutritious and well-balanced meals. We have an on-site cook that prepares these meals.  We are on the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which monitors our menus and helps us to be trained in child nutrition and food preparation.

Our children are the future of our country. Research consistently shows that the first three years of a child’s life are critical for future learning and for social and emotional well-being. Our ministry through Shepherd’s Fold is to provide a safe, healthy environment as an important part of the developmental growth of the children in our care.
